Week 7 (July 26)

Rusty Aries 59, Kings 47

The Kings and Rusty Aries started the day with a chippy affair. Brendan Morais lead the way for the Kings with 27 but Rusty Aries would simply be too much with Josh Dunton dropping 23 and Brian Whitten adding 14 to the mix in their 7th straight victory. Rusty Aries are the first team in league history to end the regular season undefeated in the league's brief history. The Kings end their inagural regular season campaign at 3-4

The Squad 54, 508 Athletics Grey 52

The Squad behind the shooting of Steve Lesperiance (18) the scrappy play of Harvey Jackson held on for a hard fought win against 508 Grey. 508 got a solid game out of Kevin Salvaggio with 9 and Jon Wood with 12. The much improved Squad will head into the playoffs at 2-5 while the 508 Athletics Grey squad will come in at 1-6.

D & E Painting 56, Canoe Club 32

D & E painting are peaking at the right time! Rookies Tim Miranda (10) and Corey Brunner (13) lead the way offensively but as usual the real star for D & E was their ball movement. Canoe Club had trouble getting going early but Mike Mahoney threw in 13 in the defeat. Due to rain and a scheduling quirk the Canoe Club would play again imeadiatly following. D & E winners of 5 straight roll into the playoffs on a hot streak!

508 Orange 47, Canoe Club 40

Canoe Club showed a gutty effort playing back to back. Jack Mahoney with 18 and Karl Sattlemair ith 14 paced the offense. In the end though 508 Orange lead by Jon Young's 14 and Rob Elliot's 12 took home the W in their first game on the night. Canoe Club ends the year at 3-4. 508 Played immediately following.

508 Orange 57 Red Raiders 55

Evan Prince was a wrecking crew for the Red Raiders posting 28 points and putting the raiders in position to win. 508 Orange showed a gutty effort playing a second game on the night and Rob Elliot lead the way with 12. Andrew Van Slette also had 12 including (most importantly) a pull jumped from the baseline as time expired to give the Orange club their 3rd win in a row, and unexpectedly earn them a bye in the playoffs due to tiebreakers.

BOHICA 70, Banner Bar 46

A much anticipated matchup. Banner came out firing with Doug Hill (15 points) banging a few early threes and Sam Fanfan did his part with 14, but BOHICA came out on fire and stayed that way. The story was Kris Johnson with 22 points (7 treys) and Brian Vayda, Jordan Vander Baan and Scotty Felper were all in double figures with 10 each. Joe McCann added 8 including a dunk in transition as BOHICA bounce back from a loss last week. Banner ends the year 5-2 while BOHICA ends the year 6-1

Player Of The Week:
Josh Dunt0n, Rusty Aries 23 points in a game that cements the 1 seed are good enough to get you on the board any day.



Week 6 (July 19)

Rusty Aries 47, Banner Bar 46

Rusty Aries continues to be incredibly consistent in their first season. Playing solid defense down the stretch and following the lead of Josh Dunton (14) and Brian Whitten (13) the Aries held on to run their record to 6-0 in their inagural season. Banner Bar (as usual) followed the lead of Sam Fanfan who posted 21 points in the loss. Doug Hill added 12 for Banner Bar who will take on BOHICA on Sunday in a battle for the 2 seed most likely. Rusty Aries will face the Kings.

Pregamers 79, Kings 43

The Pregamers came together and played their best of the game of the year defeated the very short handed Kings. Keenan Burke-Pitts jump started the Pregamers offense from the point guard position scoring 10 and getting everyone involved, especially Brett Corey. Corey went for 30 in the Pregamers win including 8 threes. Brendan Morais was the bright spot for the Kings scoring 24. The Pregamers have the week off this week and conclude their season at 2-4. The Kings will take on the first place Rusty Aries.

D & E Painting 49, The Squad 47

The vastly improved Squad hung in there with the defending league finalists lead by Steve Lesperiance's 18 points but D & E Painting's cast of crafty veterans hung on for the win. Corey Brunner had 14 for D & E the bulk of which came form downtown and Chris Farrar was his normal terror inside. Dave Rahall continued his hot shooting for the Squad dropping in 11 most from long distance. The Squad will tangle with 508 Grey on Sunday as they lobby for playoff position and D & E Painting will take on The Canoe Club.

508 Athletics (Orange) 70, BOHICA 65

The streak comes to an end. BOHICA had won 14 straight dating back to last year. 508 Orange however ended that behind the hot shooting of Rob Elliot (23) and Andrew Van Slette (13). BOHICA's Justin Aldrich (34 points) had a heroic effort as the team was missing it's 4 top scorers, but that's taking nothing away from 508 Orange who just straight up made plays. 508 Orange has a double header this sunday facing the Canoe Club and The Red Raiders. While BOHICA concludes it's regular season with the Banner Bar.

Canoe Club 47, 508 Grey 31

Canoe Club hopped out to a 22-17 lead at the half and never looked back as they cruised to a 47-31 W over the 508 Grey club. Kevin Salvaggio lead 508 with 11 points and Canoe Club was lead by Karl Sattlemair with 13. 508 Grey would not be done for the night. Canoe Club will face the same fate next week as they play a twin bill with 508 Grey and D & E Painting.

Red Raiders 43, 508 Grey 40

The Red Raiders posted their first win 43-40 over 508 Grey. Evan Prince had 20 for the Raiders and they played solid defense down the stretch. 508 was lead by Mike Sardonini with 11 points in the post and Kevin Salvaggio played another solid floor game. The Raiders will take on 508 Orange this sunday and 508 Grey will tangle with the Squad.

Players Of The Week: Brett Corey Pregamers and Evan Prince Red Raiders, Corey had 30 in his team's best game of the year and Prince had 20 in his team's first win.

Week 5 (July 12)

Rusty Aries 46, 508 Orange 34

Josh Dunton had 13 for the still undefeated Rusty Aries team. They had tremendous offensive balance with Andrew Groth and Billy Monaco crashing the class and Brian Whitten continuing to hit big 3s. Jon Young had 18 points for the 508 Squad. Rusty Aries (5-0) will return to action against also undefeated Banner Bar on Sunday. 508 Orange (0-4) will tangle with the undefeated BOHICA club.

BOHICA 81, Red Raiders 44

The story in this one was simple Joey McCann. The BOHICA role player who is usually content to crash the glass, make the extra pass and hit the occasional shot, came saw and dropped 40 points in the 5 PM game. With backcuts, swooping moves to the hoop and deep 3s McCann was feeling it. Scott Felper added 19 for BOHICA and Justin Aldrich had to have 15+ assists. Jordan Vander Baan had his normal do everything game and even Anthony Leonelli dialed long distance for 2 threes. For The Red Raiders Evan Prince and Justin Randall were bright spots. Red Raiders will face the Woonsocket Rockets next week in a Blackstone/Millville/Woonsocket style showdown. BOHICA will face 508 Orange.

The Kings 60, 508 Athletics Grey 50

With a balanced attack featuring Travis Mateer 13 points, Caleb Kropman 19 points and Brenden Morais 19 points, the Kings ran to a 10 point victory over 508 Grey. Kevin Salvaggio had a very solid game for the Grey Club with 12 and Drew Smithson added 11. Steve Dorsey as usual was the stopper for 508 Grey. The Kings improve to 3-2 with the win and will take on The Pregamers next week. 508 Grey continues to play solid ball and will face Canoe Club next week.

The Canoe Club 51, The Squad 46

A tremendous game. The Squad fresh off their first win in history came out on fire with Mike Howe and Dave McKinley knocking down shots from the perimeter. The story though for the squad was Dave Rahall who knocked down 6 threes and had a career high 26 points. The Squad rolled into the half with a 34-19 lead. The second half however saw a defensive adjustment as the Canoe Club went from zone to man and starting looking inside to Brian Bacon who dropped in 11 points in the second half before fouling out. Karl Sattlemair had 11 including a huge three down the stretch and Jack Mahoney added 11 to allow the Canoe Club to grind out the 51-46 win. Canoe Club will face 508 Grey next week while The Squad will tangle with D & E Painting.

The Banner Bar 67, Pregamers 39

The Banner Bar's Sam Fanfan after seeing his short lived single game scoring record fall came out gunning and put up 27 in the victory. Doug Hill had 17 and the Banner crashed the glass and remained undefeated. The Pregamers were lead by Ryan Bunce with 13 and Brett Corey with 11. The Pregamers (1-4) will face up with The Kings next week. The Banner Bar will take on Rusty Aries in a battle of undefeated teams.

D & E Painting 49, Woonsocket 43

The very shorthanded Woonsocket Team managed to hang tough for 39 minutes. Brian Grady from D & E picked a great time to drop his first 3 points of the game as he gave D&E a 3 point lead with 1:15 to go with a three from the corner. The Rockets three headed monster of Nate Jeter (14), Kenny Jeter (14) and Carlos Armich (13) all had tremendous nights while D & E was paced by Mike Keefe with 13 and Chris Farrer with 9. As always the real star for D & E though was their depth. They all score, and they all crash the glass. D & E will face The Squad and the Rockets will take on the Red Raiders.

Player Of The Week: Joey McCann, BOHICA. 40 points is 40 points.

Week 4 (July 5)

D & E Painting 55, Kings 36

D & E Painting came out of the holiday looking like the D & E Painting of last year with a grind it out team oriented win. Jeff Burton lead the way for D & E with 11. Brendan Morais has his usual solid game for The Kings. D & E (2-2) will return to action against the Woonsocket Rockets on Sunday. While The Kings (2-2) will square off with 508 Grey.

BOHICA 71, Canoe Club 43

BOHICA paced by the inside/out side attack of Brian Vayda and Kris Johnson cruised to their 4th victory of the season versus the Club. Karl Sattlemair had 17 in defeat for the Canoe Club (1-2) who will take on The Squad this week. BOHICA looks to keep it's 13 game winning intact against the Red Raiders.

508 Grey 81, 508 Orange 44

Despite a solid shooting night from Drew Van Slette the Orange squad went down to the Grey 81-44. 508 Grey improves to (2-1) and will tackle The Kings this week while Orange falls to (0-3) and will lock horns with Rusty Aries

The Squad 55, Pregamers 35

Steve Lesperiance had 20 points as the Squad posted their first victory in franchise history (1-3 0n the year). Pregamers fall to (1-3). The Squad will face the Canoe Club this week in a heated divisional contest and The Pregamers will face new league juggernaut The Banner Bar.

Banner Bar 55, Red Raiders 50

The Red Raiders put up a good fight between a balanced attack and Evan Prince getting 14 but in the second half it was all about Sam Fanfan (33 points) and the Banner Bar. Fanfan sets the leagues all time single game scoring mark with his 33 and the Bar improves to (4-0) and will take on the Pregamers this week. Red Raiders are still chasing their first win and will look to get it versus BOHICA on sunday.

Rusty Aries 55, Woonoskcet Rockets 38

Rusty Aries continues to just win baby running their record in their inaugural campaign to (4-0). Usually the Josh Dunton show this week it was all about balance as Alex Curry lead the way with 13. For the Rockets Antwan Jones had 9 in defeat. Rusty Aries will take on 508 Orange on Sunday and Woonsocket will play the primetime game with D & E Painting.

Player Of The Week: Sam Fanfan Banner Bar. It's awfully hard to drop 33 in a close game and not be the player of the week.

Week 3 (June 28)

Banner Bar 65, Canoe Club 42

Banner Bar lead by San Fanfan's 22 points crusied to a win over disional foe Canoe Club. Brian Collins added 13 for the victors. Canoe Club was lead by the Nipmuc '00 combination of Karl Sattlemair with 11 and Steve Dellarovere with 13. Banner will return to action on Sunday with a matchup with the Red Raiders. Canoe Club will square off with BOHICA.

D & E Painting W, 508 Orange L,

First forfeit in league history. Orange will now lose all tiebreakers and if they forfeit again will be removed from the league. Orange will face 508 Grey on Sunday. D & E will face The Kings

Woonsocket Rockets 59, Kings 54

The Woonsocket Rockets improved to 2-0 with a 5 point victory over the kings. I would tell you who scored for the Rockets but they declined to fill out the book with names so I can tell you that #1 had 19 points and #2 had 18. For the Kings Brendan Morais and Dan Main lead the way with 15 each. The Kings will face D&E Painting on Sunday. The Rockets will take on Rusty Aries

Pregamers 43, Red Raiders 41

The game of the week! The Pregamers lead by Kyle Dean 24 Points and Bretty Corey 17 held off the surging Red Raiders lead by Evan Prince's 16. The Red Raiders will face Banner Bar on Sunday while the Pregamers will square off with The Squad.

Rusty Aries 57, 508 Grey 48,

Drew Smithson (15 points) and Jon Wood (14 points) threw a scare into the Rusty Aries crew. However Josh Dunton had 27 and Andrew Groth added 19 to lead the Rusty Aries to a perfect record through 3 games in their inaugural season. They will test that against the Woonsocket Rockets on sunday while 508 Grey will face 508 Orange in the battle of Mendon.

BOHICA 63, The Squad 49

A badly shorthanded BOHCIA squad won their 12th straight game dating back to last year behind the offense of Kris Johnson 20 points, Joey McCann 14 and Brian Vayda with 17. For the Squad Steve Lesperance had 13 and Mike Howe added 11 inside. The Squad will face the Pregamers this coming weekend and BOHICA will tangle with The Canoe Club.


Player of The Week: Josh Dunton Rusty Aries, 27 points in a close game is enough to make you the POTY any week!



Week 2 (June 14)

Woonsocket Rockets, 508 Athletics Grey PPD

BOHICA 57, Pregamers 39

BOHICA came out firing on the recently dried Mendon Park court. Brian Vayda showed why he is one of the best players in the league with a 21 point outburst and Kris Johnson added 9 from the perimeter. Justin Aldrich was his usual playmaking self and Anthony Leonelli added a more or less amazingly slow finish in the full court. For the 'Gamers Ryan Bunce lead the way with 10 and a solid day on the boards and Kyle Dean had his usual do everything game. The Pregamers will take on Canoe Club next week while BOHICA will square off with The Banner Bar.

Rusty Aries 45, D & E Painting 43

Two short handed squads faced off in a hard fought game. Chris Farrer oaced D & E Painting to a strong second half with his 14 points to erase a 7 point half time deficit. Cody Brunner also added 12 points for D & E (all from downtown). However Rusty Aries weathered the storm behind 15 points from Josh Dunton and 8 from Brian Whitten including 2 enourmous 3's down the stretch. Bill Monaco added 13 and hit the glass hard as Rusty Aries improved to (2-0) they will face The Kings, while D & E will face 508 Athletics Grey

Banner Bar 56, The Squad 43

The Banner Bar came out firing and lead by 11 at the half. They held of The Squad in the second half. Harvey Jackson lead the way for the Squad while Sam Fanfan and Jeremey Bridge lead the chrge for the Banner (more details to come on this game...). Banner Bar will meet BOHICA next week in a battle of unbeatens and The Squad will take on Red Raiders.

Canoe Club 47, Red Raiders 35

The Raiders Billy Rival had 12 and Evan Prince added 8 in a good battle. Canoe Club just exciting to be on the floor after last week's rainout used a balanced attack to dispatch The Raiders. Karl Sattlemair lead the way with 17 points and Pat Makridakis burried 3 threes on the way to 13 points. Canoe Club will face the Pregamers next week in a divisional tilt and The Red Raiders will take on The Squad.

Kings 58, 508 Athletics (Orange) 48

Dan Main paced the Kings with 17 points and Caleb Kropman tossed in 8 including 6 from very deep! Kevin Vanslette lead the way for 508 Orange with 12 who were also aided by Rob Elliots 11 and Jon Young's 10. 508 Orange was playing their first game and will no doubt be a force in the league in the near future. The Kings improve to 2-0 in their inaugural season and will take on fellow 2-0 expansion squad Rusty Aries next week! 508 Orange will tango with The Woonsocket Rockets.

Player Of The Week: Karl Sattlemair, Canoe Club. Karl's 17 points lead his team to a W in their first game of the year.



Week 1 (June 7)

Rusty Aries 44, The Squad 34
Rusty Aries made their BVBL debut in style by taking a 1 point halftime lead and extending it over the second half behind the scoring of BVBL vets Alex Curry (9 points) and Josh Dunton (9 points). The Aries also got a steady floor game from Raheem Lewis (9 points) and Billy Monaco. The Squad's Steve Lesperiance hit for 15 including 3 treys and returning All Star Harvey Jackson added 11. The Squad (0-1) will return to action next sunday against The Banner Bar while Rusty Aries (1-0) will face D & E Painting.

Woonsocket Rockets 48, Pregamers 47
New kids on the block Woonsocket Rockets overcame a 7 point half time deficit to post their first W in the BVBL. Justin Green (14 points) lead the Rockets from the outside while Nate Jeter (10 points) paced them on the inside. Derek Pennie also added 10 for the Rockets. The much improved Millbury based Pregamers got a great effort out of Keenan Burke-Pitts (9 points and a lot of steals). As well as Ryan Bunce (14 points). Newcomer Mark Janese added 16 points for the Pregamers. Woonsocket (1-0) will return to action Sunday against 508 Athletics (Grey). While The Pregamers will face BOHICA.

BOHICA 86, 508 Athletics (Grey) 27
The defending champs came out firing from downtown as Kris Johnson (18 points), and Anthony Leonelli (10 points) connected from downtown. Not to be outdone Joe McCann (15 points) and Brian Vayda (15 points) crashed the glass and got to the rim consistently. Scott Felper (10 points) had his usual steady floor game for the BOHICA squad. Nate Smithson (10 points) lead the way for 508 Grey and Steve Dorsey game them a solid floor game. The 508 Team will no doubt be more competitive as they return to full strength. BOHICA (1-0) have won 10 straight dating back to next year and will play The Pregamers next week. 508 Grey will take on the Woonsocket Rockets.

Banner Bar 37, D & E Painting 33
Two titans of the league came out scrapping in the most anticipated game of the night. D & E jumped out to a 16 point halftime lead behind the slashing play of Dave Farrer and the outside shooting of Bobby Chalmers. After the break though it was all Banner Bar as D & E would manage only 9 second half points. The Banner Bar was lead by newcomer Sam Fanfan (14 points) and the steady inside play of Jeremy Bridge. D & E Painting will take on Rusty Aries next week and The Banner Bar will square off with The Squad.

Kings 61, Red Raiders 44
Two expansion squads with bright futures in this league squared off in the 8 PM matchup. Evan Prince lead the Red Raiders with 15 points and was very impressive along with the scrappy play of Zack Morris (7 points). The Kings paced by Dan Main (11 points) and Brendan Morais (20 points) got off to a good start and continued to make shots throughout the second half. Nick Morese added 8 points all from outside for the Kings who will take on 508 Athletics (orange) in next weeks 9 PM game. The Red Raiders will lock horns with the Canoe Club.

PPD, the rains came about 10 minutes in, game will be made up from point of interruption later in the season!

Player Of The Week:
Brendan Morais, Kings, Had 20 points in his BVBL debut and helped the Kings to their first ever victory. Got the bulk of his points going to the rim but also showed off a capable jumpshot.
