Champions Crowned

Leftover Prevails 61-59

BOHICA lead for 39 plus minutes, but games in the BVBL are 40 and Leftover clawed back from an 8-point halftime deficit to pull off the championship. Their first since the 2018 season. Jakish Alexander buried a 26 footer to give Leftover their first lead of the game with under a minute to play. A last second heave by Nate Stitchell fell short and Leftover claimed their third championship moving them alone in second for all time BVBL titles.

BOHICA got out of the gate fast behind Jeff Hunter (24) and Nate Stitchell (13) leading by as many as 13 early. Leftover got it back to 8 at the half and emphasized inside touches for Kyle McKissick (15) in the second half. Alexander's lone 3 of the night would be the difference and the Lasagna crew would pull it out.

Playoff Results:

 Playoff Results: 8/13

Quarterfinals:
(5) Q Tang Clan 49, (4) D-Fence 46
D-Fence jumped out to a 10-2 lead early and looked to be cruising to the semis, but the rains came. An hour and 10 minutes later after a lot of effort from all involved the game restarted- and Q Tang Clan woke up. Derrel Thomas lead Q Tang with 13, while Trevor Oliver kicked in 12. Q Tang had a balanced attack with Logan Talbot scoring 10 and Will Pieczynski had 10 of his own. D-Fence got 2 late looks at game tying threes but they went begging and Q Tang Clan punched their ticket to the semis.

(1) Leftover Lasagna 69, (8) Road Runners 39
Leftover cashed in the benefit of being the 1 seed and cruised to victory over a depleted Road Runners squad. Kyle McKissick (MVP MVP) had 17 for Leftover and Dave Zielinski kicked in 13 as did Joey Barillo. The Runers got 11 from Connor Warner in the defeat.

(7) The Reg 57, (2) Birds 54
An upset on paper, but The Reg were far from a traditional 7 seed. Playing with only 5 guys they stopped the upstart Birds late. The Birds got 13 from Andrew Deppe and 11 from Chris Casey but didn't shoot it from outside as they had all year. Meanwhile the Reg got 14 from Take Pike and a huge 24 from Russ Rau who was scoring at all 3 levels. The Birds conclude an excellent season and The Reg is through to the semis.

(3) BOHICA 66, (6) Scrap Metal 52
Ryan Flauto continued his excellent season with 29 points and Tyler Serafin added 10 as the Scrap Iron squad made this one interesting. Ultimately though the twin towers attack of Andreas Kontaplidis (26) and Jeff Hunter (15) would prove too much and when coupled with the disruptive defense of Nate Stitchell, BOHICA would get through to the semis.

Semi Finals:
(1) Leftover Lasagna 60, (5) Q Tang Clan 39
Q Tang Clan couldn't find the range after their emotional first round win and Leftover Lasagna cemented their status as the leagues's best team with a decisive 60-39 victory. Kyle McKissick again was tremendous with 27 points and Dave Zielinski had 20 of his own as Leftover advances to the finals. Q Tang got 12 from Trevor Oliver and conclude an excellent season.

(3) BOHICA 59, (7) The Reg 48
Russ Rau had 23 points and Tate Pike added 12 as the Reg fought it out even tying the game early inthe second half, but Jeff Hunter (20) and Andreas Kontaplidis (21) scored the ball and Mark Czeisler (13 points) provided the grit with his offensive rebounding, free throw shooting, and floor diving that elevated BOHICA in the second half. This sets up Leftover vs BOHICA - the Lakers/Celtics of the league.

2023 AWARDS

The Awards are named by the League Staff (which is basically just Leo at this point) with input from captains and refs. Remember attendance does factor in 6 pretty good games is worth more than 3 lights out games.

Also you don't actually get anything so if you're mad about made up awards in a men's league take a deep breath and go outside.
